Fahler, a famous racing name steeped in tradition

FROM a young age Marcus gained a wealth of experience and knowledge working for his father the very successful trainer Cliff Fahler. Cliff was famously, known as “King of the Kids” for his outstanding success in Australia with two year olds. Marcus’ mother Vanda is the great niece of Phar Lap’s jockey, the legendary Jim Pike. With these famous racing bloodlines, Marcus was destined to be a racehorse trainer.

"Our professionalism will match any major stable but it is our ability to provide individual attention – to both horse and owner which sets us apart !"

Marcus has always had an affinity with horses, and has the knowledge and ability to select yearlings and educate them correctly thus ensuring the best possible return on the owners investment. This was evident when he won the first metropolitan two-year-old race of the year the Victoria Park Plate at Moonee Valley with Smurfette ridden by top jockey Danny Brereton.

Marcus, along with his wife Jillian trains from Strahan Farm their 54 acre property at Moorooduc which is located five minutes from the Mornington Racecourse and is well known as one of Australia’s premier racecourse and training centres.

The Moorooduc farm is an idyllic setting for the training of racehorses from yearlings, in their early preparation, right through to older horses who appreciate a relaxed peaceful country environment away from the city training tracks.

Marcus and Jill reside on the property and the horses are always under their watchful eye.

Our aim is to make participation in racing enjoyable and successful for everyone in our Stable and we welcome all your enquiries.
